Bar Kismet
Bar Kismet is an award-winning seafood restaurant and cocktail bar in Halifax, Nova Scotia, founded by my brother Jenner Cormier and his wife, Annie Brace-Lavoie. With their creative direction, I helped shape a brand rooted in family, craft and hospitality.
Challenges
The challenge was preserving the character of our grandmother Maureen Tufts’s handwriting while scanning and retracing it into a distinctive logo. Earthy colours and vintage details needed to balance simplicity with ornament, creating an identity that felt refined and approachable.
Outcome
The identity centres on Maureen’s handwriting, honouring her love of cooking and ingredients prepared by hand. An earthy palette and subtle ornament bring Jenner and Annie’s vision together: personal, organic and quietly elegant, with the warmth of a family story.
